The Mostra de Curtas de Noia (Noia, Galicia, Spain) is starting a new edition tonight and the fiction short films Bus Story, directed by Jorge Yúdice, and Theft (Hurto), directed by Jerónimo García Castela, are going to compete in this Galician film contest in the next days.
The shorts Bus Story by Jorge Yúdice and Theft (Hurto) by Jerónimo García Castela have earned one more film festival nomination each. Both shorts have entered at the XVII Mostra de Curtametraxes Vila de Noia (Noia, Galicia, Spain) and will be there from today, Friday 21st October. The film contest of the current year 2016 will continue until Sunday 30th October.
The seventeenth edition will have 28 fiction shorts —including Bus Story by Jorge Yúdice and Theft by Jerónimo García Castela—, 9 animations, and 3 short films from A Coruña (Noia is located in the Galician province of A Coruña). In total, 40 stories compete the Official Competition of the Mostra de Curtametraxes de Noia on this occasion. These shorts have been nominated from more than 1,300 films coming from over fifty countries that were submitted to this year's call.

The shorts in the Official Competition are going to be shown on 22nd, 25th, 26th, and 27th October at the Teatro Coliseo Noela of Noia. The festival has not officially published which shorts will be screened every day. Because of that, we cannot inform you when neither Bus Story nor Theft are scheduled.
Although the Mostra de Noia will end on Sunday 30th October, the awards ceremony is planned on Saturday 29th at 22:00 hours. The Teatro Coliseo Noela will be the venue where this event will take place.
The awards of the XVII Mostra de Curtametraxes Vila de Noia are really succulent. The Premio á Mellor Curtametraxe (Best Short Film Award) consists of € 4,000. They are also given a substantial prize to the winner of the Premio á Mellor Animación (Best Animation Award), who is receiving € 1,500. The Premio á Mellor Dirección (Best Film Direction Award) is a € 700 cash-prize. For its part, the Premio ao Mellor Guión (Best Screenplay Award), the Premio ao Mellor Actor (Best Male Actor Award), and the Premio á Mellor Actriz (Best Female Actress Award) consist of € 500 each one. The best local short will win the Premio á Mellor Curtametraxe Comarcal (Best Local Short Film Award) and a € 300 cash-prize. It should be also noted that the Premio do Público (Audience Award) will give € 1,168.
