The Festival de Cine de Humor Maipú Cortos (Maipú, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) has selected the short film Duty (Deber), directed by Ángel Manzano, that is going to be shown today in Argentina.
From 6th to 9th October, a new edition of the Festival Maipú Cortos will be held. The Festival de Cine de Humor Maipú Cortos 2016 (Maipú, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina) is opening today, Thursday 6th October, with the fiction short film Duty (Deber), directed by Ángel Manzano, amongst the selected films of the current edition.
Duty by Ángel Manzano has been included in the "Invitados Especiales" (Special Guests) category of the festival.
Up to 12 short films are going to be screened as part of this section of the Maipú Cortos 2016. They are the stories Supercool by Hugo Silva (Spain), Mousse by John Hellberg (Sweden), Hostal Edén by Gonzaga Manso (Spain), Interior. Family by Gerard Quinto, David Torras & Esteve Soler (Spain), Dolores by Toni López Bautista (Spain), Súper Juan. El origen by Rubén Dené (Spain), Duty by Ángel Manzano (Spain), Como yo te amo by Fernando García Ruiz Rubio (Spain), Turno de noche by Vicente Ruiz de León Consuegra (Spain), La rubias by Carlota Martínez Pereda (Spain), Los pestiños de mamá by Marta Díaz de Lope Díaz (Spain), and No abortamos by Mata Onzain & Alberto Rodríguez Peña-Marín (Spain).
The overwhelming majority of the "Special Guests" have been produced in Spain, 11 out of 12. Just one short has not been produced in Spain, but in Sweden.
The screening of the short Duty, directed by Ángel Manzano has been scheduled just today, Thursday 6th October, from 20:00 hours. This show will take place at the Sala Sociedad Italiana of Maipú.
Regarding the Competencia Internacional (International Competition) of this Argentinian contest, the candidates are a dozen. The shorts in the competition are: La mujer de mis sueños by Javier San Román (Spain), Venecia by Venetia Taylor (Australia), Trabajando hasta tarde by David Gilbank (United Kingdom), Ruleta by Álvaro Carmona (Spain), In The Daze Of Things by Gaël Zaks (France / United Kingdom), Le culotte by Laurent Firode (France), La persona ideal para el puesto by Wilfried Meance (France), Apolo 81 by Óscar Bernàcer (Spain), Moby by Sebastián Enn (Switzerland), Y mañana navidad by Héctor Rull (Spain), El método Greenberry by Baptiste Bertheuill (France), and La ola de calor by Lucía Valverde (Luxembourg).
Also here, to a lesser extent, the Spanish shorts are the most abundant ones, 4 out of 12. There are also shorts produced in France (3 plus one co-production), United Kingdom (1 national production plus one co-production), Australia (1), Luxembourg (1), and Switzerland (1).
The Maipú Cortos 2016 also has an Argentinian Competition (Competencia Argentina), open only to Argentinian short films.
The ninth edition of the Festival de Cine de Humor Maipú Cortos will be closed on Sunday 9th October.
