Euthanas Inc., Audience Award At FIBABC

“Euthanas Inc.” (Eutanas SA) by Víctor Nores, Audience Award at the V Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes ABC (Spain)Finally, got the prize. The fiction short film Euthanas Inc. (Eutanas SA), directed by Víctor Nores and produced by Borja de la Fuente, has won the Audience Award, decided by online voting, of the V Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes ABC (Spain).

The V Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes ABC (Spain) has finished up. And the aftermath has brought us a great joy: the short film Euthanas Inc. (Eutanas SA), directed by Víctor Nores and produced by Borja de la Fuente, has won the Audience Award to the Best Short Film of the V Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes ABC.

Since the very beginning of voting period, started on 4th September and ended on 4th November, it was clear that Euthanas Inc., the short by Víctor Nores, was one of the favourite shorts to earn this year's Audience Award. It has led online votes at all times thanks to the efforts on social networks done by its authors, Víctor Nores and Borja de la Fuente, by all crew members that worked during filming, and by all fans of this outstanding story starring Spanish well-known actress Amparo Baró.

Due to the spate of votes collected by Euthanas Inc. during the two months of competition, this short film eventually became the most voted film of the fifth edition of the FIBABC. The list of winners of the fifth edition of the Festival Iberoamericano de Cortometrajes ABC 2014 is the following one:

  • Jury's Prize to the Best Female Actress: Érica Rivas for La donna by Nicolás Dolensky (Argentina),
  • Jury's Prize to the Best Male Actor: Asier Etxeandía for Porsiemprejamón by Ruth Díaz (Spain),
  • 1st Jury's Consolation Award: Lluvia en los ojos by Rita Basulto (Mexico),
  • 2nd Jury's Consolation Award: Inocente by Álvaro Pastor (Spain),
  • 3rd Jury's Consolation Award: Inertial Love by César Esteban Alenca & José Esteban Alenda (Spain),
  • Audience Award to the Best Short Film: Euthanas Inc. by Víctor Nores (Spain),
  • Best Short Film from Film School Award: Das kind by Manu Gómez González (Spain),
  • ABC Newspaper Critics' Prize to the Best Not Premièred in Spain Short Film: Casitas by Javier Marco (Spain),
  • 1st ABC Newspaper Critics' Consolation Award to the Best Not Premièred in Spain Short Film: Matilde by Laura Andrea Martínez Hinojosa (Mexico), and
  • 2nd ABC Newspaper Critics' Consolation Award to the Best Not Premièred in Spain Short Film: Estatuas by Roberto Fiesco (Mexico).

Besides of the Short Film Competition, the FIBABC has also held a competition for less-than-five-minute-long shorts (i-Shorts) called "Certamen de i-Cortos". The winners of this category have been:

  • Jury's Prize to the Best i-Short: Lugares comunes by Delia Márquez & Pablo Díaz (Spain / Germany),
  • 1ª Jury's Consolation Award: Mi momento by Mikel Bustamante (Spain),
  • 2ª Jury's Consolation Award: El alpinista by Adrián Ramos & Oriol Segarra (Spain),
  • Jury's Consolation Award to the Best Social-Themed Short Film: Estrella by Roberto Chinet (Spain), and
  • Audience Award to the Best i-Short: Un viaje al infinito by Iván López (Spain).
