Women Media Arts and Film Festival Selects 6 Shorts

Six short films at the Women Meida Arts and Film Festival of Sydney (Australia)The first edition of the Women Media Arts and Film Festival (Australia) has selected six short films promoted at film festivals by [ The House of Films ]. From today, 21st December, they are competing in Sydney.

From today, Saturday 21st December, until coming 29th December, six short films promoted at international film festivals by [ The House of Films ] are going to compete at the 1st Women Media Arts and Film Festival (Sydney, New South Wales, Australia).

The six short films competing during the first edition of the Women Media Arts and Film Festival are:

  • Dragon High School by Lola Parra,
  • Faces (Caretos) by Luis Sánchez-Polack,
  • To the Other Side (Al otro lado) by Alicia Albares,
  • The Light of the World (La luz del mundo) del Fernando J. Martínez & Alfonso García,
  • What Is the Price? (¿Cuál es el precio?) by Sergio Yunta, and
  • España is different by Salvador Guerra.

The Official Competition of this festival is divided in two categories: "Media Arts", with 23 competing nominees, and "Films", comprising 86 international short films and documentary films.

The shorts Dragon High School by Lola Parra, Faces by Luis Sánchez-Polack, To the Other Side by Alicia Albares, The Light of the World by Fernando J. Martínez & Alfonso García, What Is the Price? by Sergio Yunta, and España is different by Salvador Guerra are all contending in the "Films" category. Specifically, the six aforementioned shorts have been included in the fiction section of the "Films" category.

The screenings of the "Films" category of the 1st Women Media Arts and Film Festival of Sydney are going to take place today, Saturday 21st December, and tomorrow, Sunday 22nd December. For its part, the on-line digital competition has begun today and will continue until 29th December. The winner of this on-line competition is going to be unveiled on 30th December. Lastly, the screenings of the "Media Arts" category are scheduled on Saturday 29th December.

As for "Films" category, España is Different by Salvador Guerra enter into competition today, Saturday, at 14:00 hours with a screening at The Armory Theatre of Sydney.

The post-apocalyptic short film The Light of the World, directed by Fernando J. Martínez & Alfonso García, is going to be screened tomorrow Sunday at 10:00 hours also at The Armory Theatre. At the same session they are also going to show the shorts To the Other Side by Alicia Albares and What Is the Price?, the story directed by Sergio Yunta and produced by Marcia Alves do Vales.

Faces by Luis Sánchez-Polack is also going to be exhibited on Sunday 22nd December during a special session devoted to Spanish shorts starting at 18:00 hours and taking place at The Factory Theatre of Sydney.

Unfortunately, the date and place for the screening of Dragon High School, the musical fiction directed by Lola Parra, has not published officially yet by the organizers of this festival.
