The organizers of The Strawberry Shorts Film Festival 2013 has just announced that Photo (Foto), the short film by Ismael Ferrer, has won the Judges Award to the Best Short Film.
Over 400 short films had entered into The Strawberry Shorts Film Festival 2013 (Cambridge, United Kingdom) this year. However, only a few of them can win this English film competition. And one of these winners have been the short film Photo (Foto), directed by Ismael Ferrer.
Specifically, Photo by Ismael Ferrer won the Judges Award to the Best Short Film, the main award in this festival along with the Audience Award. The Jury, whose members are Tom Woodcock, Tina Kendall, and Neil McCartney, agreed that Photo was the most complete film of the competitors. They also highlighted the way the story is told to the public.
According to the website of the festival, the members of the Jury «agreed that it was the most complete of all the entries, cleverly beginning in such a way as to give no clue as to its direction and eventually doing what it was trying to do very, very well, (and which, for the audience, was scaring us rigid).»
On the other hand, the Iranian short film Dozdi by Mohammad Farahani has won the Audience Award. Additionally, the Jury highlighted the short films Crossword Puzzle by Babak Habibifar (Iran), O Šunce by Eliska Chytková (Czech Republic), and Voice Over by Martín Rosete (Spain).
The Strawberry Shorts Film Festival 2013 took place last 31st May in Cambrigde, held by the Cambridge Cinema Shorts Collective.
